چکیده
Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the geological engineering properties a marginal land in Borikiri Sandfill, Port Harcourt, Nigeria, using both field and laboratory investigations.
Study Design: design involved drilling 4 boreholes standard penetration tests determine soil profile index such as particle size analysis, atterberg limits, moisture content. Consolidation triaxial were also performed values coefficients permeability (k), volume compressibility (Mv), consolidation (Cv).
Place Duration Study: conducted Harcourt between February May 2020.
Methods: This study's methodology included research, testing. Drilling conventional used profile. Laboratory content characteristics. (Cv) determined tests.
Results: results showed that consists five stratigraphic sequences, with top organic silty layer followed by sandy layer, dark plastic clayey sand, well-graded sand. clays had an average Liquid limit (LL) 45% Plastic Limit (PL) value 23%. k, Mv, Cv be 2.1 x 10-7 m/s, 1.8 10-4–2.5 10-4 m2/MN, 3.8 m2/yr, respectively. bearing capacity at 2.5 m 4.5 depths 186.39 kPa 278.71 kPa, Settlement calculated empirically for immediate settlement, settlement being high 25.85 mm consolidated 7.53mm.
